Introduction
Gocar is a leading automotive platform in Belgium that focuses on dealers’ vehicle listings. For them, a reliable technical foundation is essential. Cars must appear on the website accurately, completely and quickly, so that dealers can showcase their listings effectively and visitors can view up-to-date information.
To process these data streams in a scalable and efficient manner, Gocar works in partnership with Hexon. Using DV, Hexon supports Gocar in importing, exporting and structuring vehicle data.

The issue
Problem
The biggest challenge for Gocar in its collaboration with Hexon lay in the structure of the data. Different parties often supply vehicle data in different ways. This results in a great deal of technical work to make that data suitable for publication on the website.
Gocar was able to resolve this internally, but that was not a sustainable way of working. It required a great deal of maintenance, attention and follow-up. A lot of ‘patchwork’ was needed to get the data right.
This affected the company’s focus. Time spent on repairing, structuring and processing data could not be devoted to improving the product itself. Whereas at Gocar a great deal of energy used to be spent on resolving and correcting data flows, the team can now focus more strongly on the product, marketing and communication.
Technical improvements are also evident. Thanks to a better-organised data structure and a search engine that works effectively, the website’s performance has improved. According to Gocar, the loading speed has increased roughly threefold, from around 0.95 to 0.25 seconds.
